You remember earlier when I mentioned that I am a known over-thinker/over-planner? Well, I’m at it again. There are just SO MANY places I want to see and I hardly know where to begin. I posted a plan to see South East Asia/Australia/Fiji for the beginning of my life as a vagabond but now Europe sounds like a good jumping off point for a number of reasons. It feels safe to me. Having lived in Germany for seven years, I know what I’m in for. It seems that Europe would ease me into the nomadic life style and I wouldn’t be throwing culture shock into the mix as well. Of course, there is something to be said for eschewing safe harbors so perhaps traveling a little out of the comfort zone by adding Eastern Europe to the mix? Say…

  • Portugal
  • Spain
  • France
  • Italy
  • Greece
  • Albania
  • Macedonia
  • Bulgaria
  • Kosovo
  • Romania
  • Serbia
  • Bosnia
  • Herzegovina
  • Croatia
  • Hungary

This plan would keep me in the European Union longer than I planned S_EEuropeanmap2015_2016because I don’t want to be hopping all over the place with airlines, I’d prefer cheaper and more thorough overland travel. With overland travel you would spend more time with and as a local.

So the first year would be Southern and Eastern Europe and the second year  would likely be Central, Western and Northern Europe (plus England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales et al).

Hey there! February 2014 after a bit of soul searching but more of a desire to live my life differently, I made the decision to sell my house, sell all the crap that is filling up my life and hit the road for the life of a vagabond. These are my pictures, my stories and my journey...

  1. Excellent choice Heather!
Culture shock is real and can be very uncomfortable, often dangerous, especially for Americans.
You are such a good communicator and I always enjoy your blogs! …Just as I know the people in your future travels will adore your company!
