It is with a heavy heart and a surly attitude I announce that I have decided to take the house off the market for the time being. In the end, I only received two crappy offers and one almost-full-price offer that fell through because SOME PEOPLE think they don’t have to tell the truth about their income while getting a pre-qualification letter. Whatevs… I’m (sorta) over it. “Not the right time…” blah blah blah “These things happen for a reason…” yadda yadda yadda. HOWEVER. I am as yet undeterred and will try again in the spring, wish me luck!
For now, I’ve decided to take a conciliatory vacation in December and take a break from the 6 day work weeks that I have been trudging through since January (no complaints here though, triple time is AWESOME). I am going to backpack through Costa Rica! Pretty freaking excited about THAT I must say. I’ll be giving Couchsurfing a try for the first time, perhaps a little airbnb action up in there too and DEFINITELY sampling lots of the local fare. I thought about renting a car but that seems like the type of luxury that I won’t have access to when I finally retire and leave home for good. So it’s local transportation and the kindness of strangers for me! HAVE I MENTIONED HOW EXCITED I AM!?!? oh, yeah, sorry ’bout that.
No, this trip will be a test run of my grand adventure skillz. It will be a mission to travel frugally while still enjoying the people, culture and nature of Costa Rica. (This post brought to you by the Costa Rican Board of Tourism. No. Not really.) I have already booked the flight and found a killer deal for the low low price of $314 R/T from SFO using itasoftware. I’m already knee deep in learning more about this BEAUTIFUL country and all the amazing locations to choose from. My travel hero, Nomadic Matt has a great free travel guide to Costa Rica here. Well… that’s all for now mmmmk? Check back in a bit and we’ll see if I have managed to get my act together.
